Frequently Asked Questions about Blueair Air Purifiers

Here are some answers to questions you might have about clean indoor air, how Blueair works and the maintenance of your Blueair air purifier.

Why should I consider an air purifier?

It rids your home of indoor air pollution that has been widely researched and found to be a major contributing factor in many health conditions. It gets rid of pollutants including house dust, pollen, pet dander, tobacco smoke and chemical fumes. Air purification is a recommended strategy for improving indoor air quality.

Which Blueair is the best model for me?

It’s simply a matter of room size. For best results, the air purifier should be able to process the volume of air in the room where it operates. You need only compare the size of your room to the room size capacities of each product. link to Products tab.

What does CADR mean and why does it matter?

The Clean Air Delivery Rate, or CADR, determines how efficient air purifiers are at removing a certain contaminant from the indoors. The three pollutants that are measured are pollen, smoke and dust, these are the most common ones found in the home’s indoor air.

What does HEPA stand for?

HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. Blueair’s patented HEPASilent™ filtration technology effectively removes 99.97% of all airborne impurities that are 0.1 micron or larger from the air that passes through the filter.

Can Blueair systems remove indoor gas?

Yes. The Blueair air purification system can remove gases and fumes such as tobacco smoke, auto exhaust, chemical fumes, smoke from forest fires and gases released by synthetic building materials.

Can Blueair systems trap airborne bacteria?

Yes. While no air filtration can remove 100% of bacteria and viruses, Blueair’s combination of mechanical and active electrostatic filtration provides exceptionally high levels of protection.

Does using a Blueair system have any environmental impact?

Blueair units have minimal impact on the environment, from the non-toxic filter to the exterior finish. Our units are energy efficient and are constructed of superior materials for a long service life. All components are recyclable.

How often should I replace the filter?

In order to maintain the high performance level you expect from Blueair, we recommend filter replacement at four, six or twelve month intervals, depending on the model or when the Replacement Filter light is on
